New York - The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has renewed its multi-year contribution of flexible core funding to The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the sidelines of the Qatar-UNDP Annual Strategic Dialogue in New York.

The agreement reaffirms the longstanding partnership between QFFD and UNDP, operationalized through various agreements and engagements, including the flagship Accelerator Labs iniative co-founded by QFFD.

At a time of overlapping crises, this renewed investment in UNDP underpins a shared commitment to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals through global partnerships, solidarity and strong multilateralism. Furthermore, the provision of flexible core funding by Qatar enables UNDP to respond with speed and agility in crisis situations, from early warning analysis to response and recovery, and to support those most in need as most core funding allocated to low-income countries.

During the opening remarks of the Qatar-UNDP Annual Strategic Dialogue, H.E. Mr. Khalifa Al Kuwari, Director General of QFFD, stated: “At QFFD, we eagerly look forward to strengthening our partnership with UNDP, exploring additional domains for collaboration, joining efforts, and synergies. Bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise enriches our collective efforts and shared vision of creating a more sustainable and equitable world for all.”

The Annual Strategic Dialogue marked the renewal of the Partnership Framework Agreement between the UNDP and QFFD for 2024-2028. This renewed partnership constitutes a major step in their joint endeavour to advance the Sustainable Development Goals globally. UNDP and QFFD committed to expanding their programmatic cooperation, bringing substantial, positive changes to communities at scale around the globe.

UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner Stated: “In this era of escalating conflict, deepening climate crisis, and rising poverty and inequality, it is imperative that we strengthen partnerships to prevent further back-sliding and accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. That is why I am grateful for the Government of Qatar and QFFD's renewed commitment to support UNDP, in particular in the areas of innovation, sustaining peace and development, and a just climate transition. Together, we're setting the pace for meaningful change.”
